JUN 2022Road closure Monday to Friday 7am to 3pm
Motorists are advised of changed traffic conditions on the Oxley Highway from Wednesday 15 June to Wednesday 29 June. The road will be closed between Knodingbul and Forbes River roads during work hours, Monday to Friday, 7am to 3pm.
More informationThis road closure is required as the work area is too narrow for large machinery to work safely beside traffic.
Emergency vehicle and property access will be maintained and single lane alternating flow arrangement will be in place outside of work hours and on weekends.
We thank motorists for their patience during this time.
Project information
Heavy rainfall in March 2021 caused significant damage to the Oxley Highway, with around 70 landslips occurring, 10 of which are major. Transport for NSW (Transport) in partnership with specialist contractors carried out immediate repair and restoration work to restore access on this essential roadway.
The section of the highway between Yarras and Mount Seaview was reopened in May 2021 and the section between Mount Seaview and Gingers Creek Roadhouse in July 2021, with a few sections remaining under single lane, alternating flow arrangement.
Transport is continuing restoration and improvement work to reinstate the road to pre-2021 flood condition. Work will take about two years to complete.
During this time there will be periods where we need to fully close the road to carry out repair and restoration work safely or for further emergency work. We will endeavour to provide as much notice as possible to the community.
- Mid 2022 - Slip 2 and 8 (road closure during work hours as required)
- End 2022- Slip 1, 5 and 6 (intermittent stoppages)
- Mid 2023 - Slip 4, 17, 22 and Stopping bay (24 hours road closure)
- Early 2024 - Slip 3 and 7 (24 hours road closure)
Note: These time frames and closures are indicative only. Traffic changes will be in place for the duration of the restoration work, and may vary for each site.
