The NSW Government is working to ease congestion, increase safety and improve travel times on King Georges Road, between Beverly Hills and Hurstville.

NOV 2022

NOV 2022Project update

From November to January 2023 work will include:

  • Continuation of earthworks in northbound verge for road widening
  • Investigation, relocation and installation of utilities (Sydney Water, electrical, gas, sewer and communication)
  • Continuation of stormwater drainage works
  • Continuation of property adjustment works
  • Continuation of pavement construction works
  • Commencement of realignment of Sydney Water culvert at Clarence Street
  • Commencement of construction of Variable Message Sign (VMS) in front of Beverly Hills Public School
  • Clearing and grubbing

AUG 2022Project update

Work continues upgrading King Georges Road, between Stoney Creek Road, Beverly Hills and Forest Road, Hurstville, to improve safety, reduce congestion and improve journey times for road users.

There will be an increase in activity over the coming months with our contractor progressing through their program of works.

FEB 2022Start of works

The Australian and NSW governments are upgrading King Georges Road, between Stoney Creek Road, Beverly Hills and Forest Road, Hurstville, to improve safety, reduce congestion and improve journey times for road users.

The project will widen the corridor, providing three lanes in each direction, and four right turn movements are being removed.

APR 2021

APR 2021Additional scope – updated design

Transport for NSW has expanded the scope of the project to further improve journey times for road users, and improve safety and flooding mitigation.

Additional scope includes:

  • A longer right turn lane on King Georges Road northbound for motorists turning right onto Stoney Creek Road
  • Placing new electricity supply underground, and installing steel light poles on the eastern side of King Georges Road
  • Installing 900m of underground drainage works on Bassett Street

FEB 2021

FEB 2021Start of property adjustment works

Property adjustment works on eight properties will commence on Monday, 22 February 2021 and will facilitate the King Georges Road widening project between Stoney Creek Road and Forest Road.

Menai Civil Pty LTD will be conducting the works and a site compound will be established on 22 February 2021 at 599-603 King Georges Road, Penshurst. These early works are scheduled to be completed by the end of June 2021, with the widening of King Georges Road expected to begin in late 2021.

Motorists currently experience significant congestion along King Georges Road between Stoney Creek Road and Forest Road, particularly during weekday peak periods.
