Project overview

The NSW Government is investing $13.5 million to upgrade the intersections of City Road (Pacific Highway) at Kahibah Road and Northcott Drive to improve traffic flow and safety.

Latest news

Apr 2022 - Night work and out of hours work

Transport for NSW and construction partner, Robson Civil have been working on the City Road (Pacific Highway) intersection upgrades at Kahibah Road and Northcott Drive since August 2021. We expect to complete the project by June 2022, weather permitting.

To minimise traffic disruptions, and to ensure the safety of workers and road users, some of the work will be carried out at night and outside standard working hours.

Night work will be carried out within the project area from Sunday 1 May 2022. We will be working between 6pm and 7am from Sunday to Friday, weather permitting. We will also be working Saturdays between 8am and 5pm during this period, weather permitting.

We will continue to deliver the majority of the work between 7am and 6pm from Monday to Friday, and between 8am and 1pm on Saturday, weather permitting.

More information on our work is available in our project updates.

Project information

Background

Up to 6000 vehicles per hour travel through the intersections of City Road (Pacific Highway), Northcott Drive and Kahibah Road.

The intersections have been identified as ‘pinch points’ meaning motorists experience delays.

As they are close together, the intersections share congestion and safety issues during busy periods.

Benefits

The upgrades will:

  • improve traffic flow on City Road (Pacific Highway) at the intersections of Northcott Drive and Kahibah Road by reducing existing queues
  • address safety issues at the existing right turns from City Road (Pacific Highway) into Northcott Drive and Kahibah Road by extending right turn lanes
  • build new left turn lanes from City Road (Pacific Highway) into Northcott Drive and into Kahibah Road
  • improve pedestrian facilities, including new crossings and footpaths.

Next steps

We started work in August 2021 and expect to complete the project by late June 2022, weather permitting.
