The NSW Government is investing $13.5 million to upgrade the intersections of City Road (Pacific Highway) at Kahibah Road and Northcott Drive to improve traffic flow and safety.
DEC 2021Night work and out of hours work
Transport for NSW awarded a contract to Robson Civil to carry out the City Road (Pacific Highway) intersection upgrades at Kahibah Road and Northcott Drive. Work started in August and is expected to be completed by late 2022, weather permitting.More information
To minimise traffic disruptions, and to ensure the safety of workers and road users, some of the work will be carried out at night and outside standard working hours.
Night work will be carried out within the project area from Monday 10 January 2022. We will be working between 6pm and 7am from Monday to Friday for two months, weather permitting. From Monday 10 January to Friday 25 February, we will also be carrying out work on Saturday between 8am and 5pm, weather permitting.
We will continue to deliver the majority of the work between 7am and 6pm from Monday to Friday, and between 8am and 1pm on Saturday, weather permitting.
From Monday 10 January, single lane closure of the southbound slow lane on City Road will be in place for five weeks, weather permitting. Motorists should allow extra travel time. Traffic will be monitored and alternative changes to traffic conditions will be made as required.
More information on our work is available in our project updates.
Up to 6000 vehicles per hour travel through the intersections of City Road (Pacific Highway), Northcott Drive and Kahibah Road.
The intersections have been identified as ‘pinch points’ meaning motorists experience delays.
As they are close together, the intersections share congestion and safety issues during busy periods.
The upgrades will:
- improve traffic flow on City Road (Pacific Highway) at the intersections of Northcott Drive and Kahibah Road by reducing existing queues
- address safety issues at the existing right turns from City Road (Pacific Highway) into Northcott Drive and Kahibah Road by extending right turn lanes
- build new left turn lanes from City Road (Pacific Highway) into Northcott Drive and into Kahibah Road
- improve pedestrian facilities, including new crossings and footpaths.
We started work in August 2021 and expect to complete the project by late 2022, weather permitting
