Full rider licence
Held your provisional P2 rider licence for at least 2 years? You can apply for an unrestricted NSW licence online or at any service centre.
If you're eligible, you can apply for your full licence online. You can choose a licence term of 1, 3 or 5 years.
You must apply for your licence in person at a service centre if:
- your licence conditions require you to have an eyesight test, undergo a medical examination or take a test
- you would like a 10-year licence (you must be aged between 21 and 44 years)
- your licence expired more than 6 months ago
- you've changed your address in the last 14 days.
How to apply in person
You can apply for your full licence at any service centre. You'll need to bring:
You may also need to pass an eyesight test. Make sure you bring your glasses or contact lenses with you if you wear them when you're riding your motorcycle or scooter.
You don't need to complete a course or test before you apply for your unrestricted (full) rider licence. Eligibility criteria depend on your age and whether you have a NSW licence or one from interstate or overseas:
Under 25 years
If you're under 25 and have held your provisional P2 rider licence for at least 2 years, you can apply for your full rider licence.
You must have held your P2 licence continuously without any period of suspension or cancellation.
25 years and over
If you’re 25 or older, you can apply for a full rider licence without completing the provisional P2 licence stage. To qualify for the exemption, you must:
- hold a current Australian full driver licence
- have completed at least 12 months on your P1 rider licence.
Overseas and interstate licence holders
If you have an interstate or overseas rider licence you may be able to convert it to an equivalent NSW rider licence.
