The NSW Government is funding $12 million for safety upgrades along the 96 kilometre section of road between Orange and Parkes over the next two years.

Project information

Cabonne Council and Parkes Shire Council, on behalf of Transport for NSW, are delivering safety improvements on The Escort Way and Henry Parkes Way between Orange and Parkes.

The safety upgrades will be delivered along the 96-kilometre section of road over the next two years, with the objective to reduce occurrence and severity of run off road and head on crashes.

The 10 projects include clear zone improvements, installing and replacing safety barrier and 10 intersection upgrades.

The intersections to be upgraded are Mousehole Lane, Peabody Road, Rosamel Lane, Healeys Road, Lake Endeavour Road, Cooka Hills Road, Bindogundra Road, Hunts Crossing Road, Massurit Lane and Kamandra Lane.

The safety upgrades have been split into two stages.

Stage one

  • Monument project, 32 kilometres west of Orange, delivered by Cabonne Council
  • Red Hill project, two kilometres west of Manildra, delivered by Cabonne Council
  • Cabonne Boundary project, 14 kilometres west of Manildra, delivered by Cabonne Council
  • Fairview project, 32 kilometres west of Manildra, delivered by Parkes Shire Council
  • Bumberry Hills project, 19 kilometres west of Manildra, delivered by Parkes Shire Council.

Stage one works will start on May 3 and will be completed by the end of August 2021.

Stage two

  • Lake Endeavour Road project, 25 kilometres west of Manildra, delivered by Parkes Shire Council
  • Cooka Hills Road project, 36 kilometres west of Manildra, delivered by Parkes Shire Council
  • Massurit Lane project, 41 kilometres west of Manildra, delivered by Parkes Shire Council
  • Borenore project, seven kilometres west of Orange, delivered by Cabonne Shire Council
  • Boree project, 26 kilometres west of Orange, delivered by Cabonne Shire Council

Stage two works will start in late 2021 and will be completed by mid 2022.

  • Vegetation clearing, safety barrier installation

Red Hill

  • Intersection upgrade at Rosamel Lane, shoulder widening, vegetation clearing and safety barrier installation

Cabonne Boundary

  • Shoulder widening, vegetation clearing and safety barrier installation

Fairview

  • Shoulder widening, vegetation clearing and safety barrier installation

Bumberry Hills

  • Shoulder widening, vegetation clearing and safety barrier installation

Lake Endeavor

  • Shoulder widening, vegetation clearing, safety barrier installation and intersection upgrade at Lake Endeavour Road

Cooka Hills Road

  • Shoulder widening, vegetation clearing, safety barrier installation and intersection upgrades at Cooka Hills Road and Bindogundra Road

Massurit Lane

  • Shoulder widening, vegetation clearing. safety barrier installation and intersection upgrades at Kamandra Lane, Hunts Crossing Road and Massurit Lane

Borenore

  • Shoulder widening, vegetation clearing and safety barrier installation

Boree

  • Shoulder widening, vegetation clearing and intersection upgrade at Peabody Road and Mousehole Lane
