MAR 2021Planning is under way for replacing Marshalls Creek Bridge
Transport for NSW has awarded detailed design for the replacement of Marshalls Creek Bridge to SMEC.More information
We are now developing the project including progressing detailed design, carrying out early works including utility relocation and completing environmental investigations.
See the latest community update (PDF, 5.85Mb) for an overview of the project, including the project timeline and next steps.
Marshalls Creek Bridge is an existing two-way, two lane access route for vehicles travelling on the Sturt Highway in Wagga Wagga. The bridge limits traffic flow, forcing vehicles to slow down through this section of the highway.
Transport for NSW is proposing to replace the crossing with a wider, longer bridge to ease congestion and improve safety in the area. The Marshalls Creek Bridge replacement will:
- Improve safety for all road users
- Improve traffic flow and efficiency, reducing the bottleneck that occurs during peak times
- Improve safety for pedestrians and cyclists.
We anticipate detailed design to be complete during 2021 at which time a construction contractor will be engaged and work will start.
Work on the bridge is expected to be completed late 2023. We will keep the community updated as the project progresses.
