The NSW Government is progressively upgrading ferry wharves across Sydney Harbour to improve Sydney’s ferry service as part of the NSW Government’s $770 million Transport Access Program – an initiative to deliver modern, safe and accessible transport infrastructure where it is most needed.
The new wharf comprises a steel floating pontoon, a small concrete fixed entry platform and an aluminium gangway connecting the entry platform to the pontoon.
The pontoon has a curved roof, glass panels and new seating offering some protection from the weather and improved amenity.
Removal of the tidal steps will provide improved safety and accessibility as well as improve efficiency.
The new wharf provides improved:
- Protection from the wind, rain and sun
- Safety for passengers
- Access for passengers using mobility aids
- Access for passengers with prams
- Boarding and disembarking efficiency.
