MAINTENANCE TO OLD MACKSVILLE BRIDGE
7:00am to 6:00pm - Monday 1 February to Friday 4 June 2021
Vessel operators are advised that the Transport for NSW (“TfNSW”) Bridge Works Northern Team will be installing scaffolding and undertaking maintenance works of the Old Macksville Bridge, which spans the Nambucca River at Macksville between 7:00am and 6:00pm from Monday 1 February until Friday 4 June 2021.
At various times during the works the bridge spans will be closed to navigation and will be marked with appropriate day shapes or lighting and signage. It is intended that only one span will be closed at a time. A commercial vessel will be utilised to transport personnel and equipment from the adjacent boat ramp to the works area.
Vessel operators are advised to exercise extreme caution when navigating in the vicinity of the works, to minimise wash and to travel at a speed of 4 knots or less when within 100 metres of the works barge and vessels.
Transport for NSW Maritime advises:
- Persons within the vicinity of the works must comply with any directions given by a Boating Safety Officer or Police Officer in relation to the works or to marine safety. Failure to comply with any such direction is an offence (Marine Safety Act 1998, s.15A - Maximum Penalty $3,300.00).
- Vessels are required to maintain a safe distance and speed (no more than 4 knots) from the works. Operators are reminded that the production of wash which impacts unreasonably on the works is an offence (Marine Safety Regulation 2016 – clause 11(2)) - Maximum Penalty $5,500.00)
