Navigation warning Cape Hawke Harbour, Forster - Replacement of lead lights to sector lead lights at Cape Hawke Harbour
(Marine Safety Act 1998 s.12)
Cape Hawke Harbour, Forster
Replacement of lead lights to sector lead lights at Cape Hawke Harbour entrance
Friday 3 July 2020 until further notice
Transport for NSW ("TfNSW") advises vessel operators that in order to improve navigation across the Forster bar into the entrance of Cape Hawke Harbour at Forster, the current lead lights are being upgraded to sector lead lights. These works will continue until further notice.
A sector light is a fixed aid to navigation that displays a light of different colours and/or rhythms over designated arcs. The colour of the light provides directional information to aid navigation of vessels. The safest bearing is the centreline channel indicated by a white light. The light remains visible at day and night.
Vessels should log on with Marine Rescue and seek advice before crossing the Forster Bar when entering Cape Hawke Harbour. Vessel operators are reminded to be extra vigilant and exercise caution when operating in the area.
This navigation warning remains in place until further notice.
