Transport for NSW is responsible for the development, management and use of wetlands and dryland property areas, valued at around $1.8 billion. These assets include the beds of the State's major ports - Sydney Harbour and its tributaries, Botany Bay, Newcastle Harbour, and Port Kembla Harbour.

Development
The bed of Sydney Harbour, Botany Bay, Newcastle Harbour and Port Kembla Harbour is publicly-owned land. This land is vested in Transport for NSW who manages it for the benefit of the people of NSW. Any development, occupation or use of these waterways requires the consent of Transport for NSW as landowner, in addition to any required planning or construction approvals.
Leasing
Transport for NSW administers more than 2,000 wetland leases covering foreshore structures in Sydney Harbour, Botany Bay, Newcastle Harbour and Port Kembla Harbour.
