Engineering policy documents - terms of use

Roads and Maritime Services engineering policy documents are policy documents within the meaning of the Government Information (Public Access) Act 2009 (NSW) ('GIPA Act') and these documents are accordingly made available to you pursuant to Section 6 (1) of the GIPA Act.

Consistent with the GIPA Act, the purposes for which these documents have been made available to you are:

  • To satisfy Roads and Maritime's obligation under Section 6 (1) of the GIPA Act to make its policy documents available for inspection and purchase by members of the public; and
  • To ensure that you, as a member of the public who may be affected by the operation of this document, have access to the document.

The engineering policy documents were developed by Roads and Maritime to provide a broad based set of policies and guidelines on technical issues related to its infrastructure assets.

Roads and Maritime carries out planning and design of new infrastructure as well as rehabilitation, maintenance and/or other works for existing infrastructure under the supervision of trained and experienced professional engineers.

By complying with the engineering policy documents, any planning and design for new infrastructure as well as rehabilitation, maintenance, inspection or other works carried out internally or by others for Roads and Maritime will have consistency in terms of quality, aesthetics or efficient use of resources as required by Roads and Maritime. Roads and Maritime does not use the engineering policy documents for any other purposes and does not consider them suitable for use for any other purpose.

This web site is not intended to contain the complete set of Roads and Maritime policy documents that may apply to a specific project.

If you use these documents for any purpose which is not consistent with the above (including, without limitation, for carrying out any investigations, design, construction, engineering, maintenance, inspections or other work), you do so at your own risk.

Roads and Maritime makes no representations or warranty that the engineering policy documents have been prepared with reasonable care and does not assume a duty of care to you. Roads and Maritime has no responsibility to inform you of any matter coming to Roads and Maritime's notice which may affect the quality of the engineering policy documents in any way. You may print a copy of the engineering policy documents for your own purposes, but you must not copy, reproduce or modify the engineering policy documents.
