Motorists to slow down at Temora
Journeys in Temora will soon be safer with a reduction to the speed limit on Mansfield Road from later this month.
Transport for NSW Director South West, Lindsay Tanner said Transport for NSW recently carried out a review of the speed limit on Mansfield Road to improve safety.
“The review took place after a resident raised concerns about safety and assessed a number of factors including crash history, road use, traffic volumes, pedestrian activity and property accesses,” Mr Tanner said.
“The review recommended lowering the 100 km/h speed limit to 80 km/h on the length of Mansfield Road from the intersection of Britannia Road to the end of the sealed road at Back Mimosa Road, a distance of about 1.25 kilometres.
“At high speed, even a few extra kilometres per hour increases the time needed to respond to a hazard on the road and raises the impact forces in a crash. This truly can mean the difference between life and death.
“This new speed limit will provide a safer road for all road users with minimal increase to journey times.”
The new speed limit will take effect from Wednesday 26 August.
Signs will be in place to advise motorists of the changed traffic conditions and road users are asked to keep an eye out for the changes and follow the directions of all signs.
