Smoother journeys between Mascot and Moore Park

15 February 2019

24 hour clearways will be introduced on South Dowling Street, Southern Cross Drive and General Holmes Drive between Mascot and Moore Park from this month.

A Roads and Maritime Services spokesperson said the extended clearway hours, starting from Monday 25 February, are part of the NSW Government’s efforts to respond quicker to breakdowns and remove illegally stopped vehicles.

Roads and Maritime will be extending the existing 6am to 10am and 3pm to 7pm clearway hours to operate at all times, in both directions, along South Dowling Street and Southern Cross Drive between Cleveland Street at Moore Park and General Holmes Drive at Mascot,” the spokesperson said.

"Clearways currently operating from 6am to 10am northbound and 3pm to 7pm southbound on General Holmes Drive between Southern Cross Drive and the Airport Tunnel will also be extended to operate at all times in both directions.”

The spokesperson said there won’t be any changes to existing parking restrictionsin the indented parking bays on South Dowling Street, between Maddison Street and Cleveland Street.

"Work to install new clearway signage will be carried out between Monday 18 February and Sunday 24 February, between 8pm and 5am, weather permitting,” the spokesperson said.

"A single parked car can cause major delays on key road corridors, so it is important to ensure all lanes are available to improve journey reliability.

Motorists are reminded any vehicles parked in a clearway risk being fined and towed.
