Work starts to refurbish lifts on the pedestrian bridge over Anzac Parade

02 DECEMBER 2016

Work to repair and refurbish the existing lifts at the pedestrian bridge over Anzac Parade will start on Monday 19 December.

A Roads and Maritime Services spokesperson said the NSW Government would fund the work, which aims to improve safety for pedestrians between Moverly Road and Storey Street, Maroubra.

“The work will take 48 shifts to complete between Monday 19 December 2016 and Saturday 11 February 2017, excluding Sundays and public holidays, weather permitting,” the spokesperson said.

“To minimise the impact on residents, work will take place from 7am to 6pm Mondays and Fridays and 8am to 1pm on Saturdays.

“The lifts will be out of service for the duration of the work with signage in place to direct pedestrians to the stairs or to cross the road via the traffic lights on Moverly Road.

“Changed traffic conditions may be in place including lane closures and reduced speed limits.

“Access to bus stops in the work zone may be affected, with traffic controllers on hand to direct commuters to alternative bus stops.

“Motorists should follow the direction of traffic control and allow extra travel time.”
