Have your say on revised clearway proposal for Roberts Road and King Georges Road
29 NOVEMBER 2016
Community members can provide feedback on a revised proposed to install new and extended clearways on Roberts Road and King Georges Road from the Hume Highway at Greenacre to the M5 Motorway at Beverly Hills.
A Roads and Maritime Services spokesperson said Roads and Maritime has been working closely with the local council to develop a proposal which will benefit motorists and minimise the impact on local businesses.
“King Georges Road is a key corridor carrying more than 70,000 motorists every day and is frequently congested due to parked cars blocking through traffic,” the spokesperson said.
“After being identified in the 2013 Sydney Clearways Strategy as one of five priority routes, a proposal to implement a clearway along the 6.7km length of road in each direction was developed and consulted on in March 2014.
“After feedback from the community, Roads and Maritime has worked to develop a suite of measures to minimise the impact on the Wiley Park shops.
“The revised proposal includes installing loading zones and introducing timed parking restrictions on Lakemba Street and The Boulevarde at Wiley Park.
“The proposed clearway hours have been shortened on the weekends from 8am to 7pm to 9am to 6pm, which is in line with clearways recently installed on Centenary Drive to the north of Roberts Road.
“A commuter car park is proposed on The Boulevarde to provide additional parking spaces for commuters close to Wiley Park Station”
Feedback on the proposal is invited by Friday 9 December and can be provided to clearways@rms.nsw.gov.au, Clearways Project Team PO Box 973 Parramatta NSW 2124 or 1300 706 232.
