Roads and Maritime Services will showcase its world leading traffic management technology at the Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) World Congress in Melbourne next month.
A Roads and Maritime spokesperson said the Congress is an annual five day event attended by about 7000 delegates from 60 countries including government and city representatives, universities, and industry and business leaders.
“Roads and Maritime is committed to ensuring road users experience safe and efficient journeys across the road network and uses several intelligent transport systems to maximise travel flows and reduce congestion during peak travel times,” the spokesperson said.
“With programs such as Smart Motorways and the roll out of electronic messages signs and other coordinated traffic management systems across the network, Roads and Maritime is leading the way with innovative methods to improve journeys.
“A display stand will be set up to explain to delegates the advancements Roads and Maritime has made in road safety, motorways management, Co-operative ITS, road network analytics as well as share key learnings.
“Our experts will also be on hand to present a workshop on the application of international ITS standards in real world situations and seven technical papers will be submitted to further knowledge about best practice traffic management.”
