A new electronic message sign will be installed on the Hume Motorway at Glenfield to provide motorists with real time information about travel conditions.

A Roads and Maritime Services spokesperson said the sign would be installed as part of the NSW Government’s $246 million Pinch Point program, which aims to reduce traffic delays and ease congestion on Sydney’s major roads.

“More than 13,000 motorists travel southbound on the Hume Motorway through Glenfield every day.

“The electronic message sign will be installed before the Brooks Road exit and will provide southbound road users with advance warning of incidents on the Hume Motorway, Campbelltown Road, Narellan Road and Camden Bypass.

“Work to install the sign will take place in two stages with the first stage expected to take six nights from 8pm to 5am between Monday 26 September and Friday 14 October, weather permitting.

“The second stage will take six night shifts between Monday 7 November and Friday 2 December, weather permitting.”

The work is not expected to impact road users.
