Ballina Street Bridge

Roads and Maritime Services is considering options to repair damage to cross beams on the Ballina Street Bridge in Lismore following an incident last month.
A Roads and Maritime spokesperson said the damage has been inspected and motorists are advised the bridge is safe to use.
“Roads and Maritime Services recently completed a $5 million project to repaint the bridge, protecting the important river crossing from corrosion and improving safety conditions for motorists and pedestrians,” A Roads and Maritime spokesperson said.
“Soon after the repainting project was completed a truck carrying an excavator hit the bridge’s cross beams, resulting in significant damage.
“Roads and Maritime Heavy Vehicle Inspectors and NSW Police are investigating the incident.
“Roads and Maritime is now developing plans to repair the bridge. The community will be informed prior to the repair work starting.
“We appreciated the community’s patience during the bridge’s repainting, and we will make every effort to reduce impacts during the repair work.”
