Have a say on preferred Bandon Road corridor route
1 AUGUST 2016
Community members are invited to provide feedback on the preferred corridor route for Bandon Road, which will one day provide an essential connection between Richmond and Windsor roads in Sydney’s west.
A Roads and Maritime Services spokesperson said the NSW Government is planning for the future by reserving the new road corridor which will support the North West Priority Land Release Area.
“With more than 200,000 extra people expected to live in north western Sydney in the next 20 to 30 years, the NSW Government is ensuring appropriate infrastructure is provided to support population growth,” the spokesperson said.
“Bandon Road will connect Richmond and Windsor roads through Marsden Park North, Riverstone West, Riverstone and Vineyard.
“The preferred corridor would alleviate traffic congestion in Riverstone, which is currently the main link between these two arterial roads.
“The six kilometre connection will link the growing commercial and residential areas and also include an underpass of the Richmond railway line north of the Vineyard Railway Station level-crossing to maximise traffic flow efficiency.
“The road would be two lanes in each direction, provide an off road shared path for pedestrians and cyclists and include an upgrade of the existing flood evacuation route along Wallace Road and Hamilton Street.
“An options report has been developed to describe the selection of the preferred corridor and is now available for viewing.
“The report draws on technical and specialist input, strategic design and consultation with key stakeholders including the Department of Planning and Environment, Transport for NSW, Blacktown City Council and Hawkesbury City Council.
“Feedback on the corridor can be provided by Friday 2 September to RiverstoneNWGC@rms.nsw.gov.au or Riverstone NWGC Roads and Maritime Services PO Box 973 Parramatta NSW 2124.
“Community members can learn more about the project by attending one of two community information sessions.
The first will be held on Thursday 11 August from 5pm to 8pm at Vineyard Church, 357 Windsor Road at Vineyard.
“A second session will be held on Saturday 13 August from 10am to 1pm at Riverstone Neighbourhood Centre, Sam Lane Community Complex, Park Street at Riverstone.”
