Roads and Maritime Services advises motorists essential maintenance work is continuing in the Royal National Park to improve safety for all road users.

“The Royal National Park is one of Sydney’s key tourist destinations within an hour’s drive of Sydney CBD,” a Roads and Maritime spokesperson said.

“To ensure ongoing road safety and access to the world’s second oldest national park, essential maintenance work is being carried out on Farnell Avenue, Audley Road, Sir Bertram Stevens Drive, McKell Avenue and Lady Wakehurst Drive.

“Work started in February and included updating signage, safety barriers and line marking.

“The second stage of the project started this week and includes installing two enforcement bays for police, two maintenance bays with vehicle activated warning signs, additional motorcycle guard rails and further line marking.

“It is expected this work will take 25 shifts to complete on weekdays from 10am to 3pm before Monday 1 August, weather permitting.”

Changed traffic conditions including reduced speed limits and lane closures may be in place.

Road users should follow all directions from traffic control and allow extra travel time.

Motorists are thanked for their patience while the essential work is carried out.
