Pedestrian safety will soon be improved with improvement work starting from Monday 6 June at the intersection of Lake Road and Main Road at Glendale.

A Roads and Maritime Services spokesperson said the NSW Government funded $300,000 to improve safety for pedestrians when crossing Main Road.

“Roads and Maritime Services is installing a traffic light controlled pedestrian crossing on the western leg of the intersection,” the spokesperson said.

“Changes to the left turn slip lane on the south-western corner of the intersection will also be carried out to improve pedestrian safety.

“Work includes building a new concrete median island and footpath connection, road resurfacing and line marking, traffic light modifications, drainage work and lighting improvements.”

To reduce the impact to motorists, work will be carried out at night Sunday to Wednesday between 7.30pm and 4.30am and on Thursdays between 9pm and 4.30am, for four weeks, weather permitting. Work will not be carried out Sunday 12 and Monday 13 June.

Lane closures, traffic control and a reduced speed limit will be in place to ensure the safety of workers and road users.
