Pedestrian safety improvements start on Griffiths and Turton Roads intersection

26 MAY 2016

Roads and Maritime Services will start safety improvement work this Sunday 29 May on the intersection of Griffiths and Turton Road at Broadmeadow.

A Roads and Maritime spokesperson said the NSW Government had allocated $500,000 to build a pedestrian crossing at the slip lane on the south-western corner of the intersection of Griffiths and Turton roads to improve pedestrian facilities and safety.

“Work includes traffic light, drainage and lighting improvements, road resurfacing, line marking and a new footpath to allow easy access to the pedestrian crossing,” the spokesperson said.

Work will take place Sunday to Thursday between 7pm and 5am for up to four weeks, weather permitting.

Roads and Maritime will advise the community if any work is required outside these dates and times.

Lane closures, traffic control and a reduced speed limit will be in place to ensure the safety of workers and road users.

Roads and Maritime thanks the community for its patience while this essential upgrade is carried out.
