New CCTV camera installed on Roper Road at Colyton

24 MAY 2016

A new CCTV camera will be installed on Roper Road where it intersects with Carlisle Avenue at Colyton as part of the NSW Government’s $246 million Pinch Point program.

A Roads and Maritime Services spokesperson said the CCTV camera would help the Transport Management Centre monitor traffic conditions at the intersection, which provides access to and from the M4 Motorway.

“Feedback on the camera was sought in March and after reviewing comments from the community the project will go ahead as planned.

“The camera will be installed on a new traffic pole and connected to communications cabling.

“It is expected this work will take six shifts to complete before Friday 17 June, weather permitting.

“Work hours will be from 8pm to 5am to minimise the impact on road users. Changed traffic conditions will be in place including reduced speed limits and lane closures for the safety of workers and motorists.”

The Pinch Point program aims to manage congestion and improve travel times on Sydney’s major corridors particularly during peak periods.
