Night work to improve Morpeth Bridge at Morpeth
12 May 2016
A Roads and Maritime Services spokesperson said night work on an essential maintenance project in Morpeth will start this Sunday 15 May to improve Morpeth Bridge on Phoenix Park Road.
“The NSW Government allocated $1 million this financial year for maintenance work to maintain the strength and capacity of the bridge,” the spokesperson said.
“Roads and Maritime will carry out the work which includes replacing timber truss elements.”
This work will be carried out Sunday to Thursday between 6pm and 6am for up to six weeks, weather permitting.
Roads and Maritime will make every effort to minimise noise associated with this work by carrying out the noisiest activities before 11pm and directing lighting away from residents where possible.
While the bridge will remain open to traffic during this night work, short bridge closures of up to 20 minutes will be required for the safety of motorists and workers.
Full bridge closures will be required as the project progresses and the community will be advised once the work program has been finalised.
Motorists should plan their trip, allow extra travel time and follow the direction of all signs, including a reduced 40 km/h speed limit.
