Weekend work planned to progress Bringelly Road upgrade

2 MAY 2016

A series of weekend shifts and changed traffic conditions will be in place from Saturday 7 May as work pushes ahead on the $509 million Bringelly Road upgrade.

“Motorists will see a hive of activity taking place along Bringelly Road as work progresses to widen Bringelly Road to two lanes in each direction and three lanes between the Upper Canal and Eastwood Road,” A Roads and Maritime Services spokesperson said.

“In addition to standard work hours, a series of extended Saturday shifts will take place on Bringelly Road between Stuart Road and Edmondson Avenue at Austral and between King Street and Glen Allan Road at Rossmore from 7 May to 18 June between 7am and 6pm for essential earthwork and utility realignments.

“There will be some noise associated with this work, with every effort made to minimise the impact on residents. Access to properties where work is being carried out will be maintained while work is under way.”

Motorists are advised Edmondson Avenue between Bringelly Road and Fifth Avenue will be closed for a number of weeks from Monday 9 May to Friday 1 July as work starts on the Bringelly Road and Edmondson Avenue intersection upgrade.

This work will be carried out from 7am to 6pm Monday to Friday and between 8am and 1pm on Saturdays, weather permitting. All Edmondson Avenue through traffic will be detoured via Fourth Avenue, Fifth Avenue and Bringelly Road.

Access to WV Scott Memorial Park will be via Bringelly Road while this work is carried out and pedestrian and cyclists access along Edmondson Avenue will be maintained. No other private properties will be impacted by the temporary closure.

To ensure the safety of workers, road users are advised to allow extra travel time, follow the direction of traffic controllers and keep to the reduced speed limits where in place.

“The work forms part of the jointly funded $3.6 billion Western Sydney Infrastructure Plan and will provide improved access to the new Leppington Railway Station, the M5 and M7 Motorways and the site of the planned western Sydney airport at Badgerys Creek,” A Roads and Maritime spokesperson said.

“Work on Bringelly Road between Camden Valley Way at Leppington to King Street at Rossmore is on track and expected to be completed by late next year.

“Motorists are thanked for their patience while this important work is under way.”
