Motorist will soon benefit from improved safety with work starting early next month on Irrigation Way at Wamoon.

A Roads and Maritime Services spokesperson said the NSW Government had allocated $950,000 to upgrade a 600 metre section of Irrigation Way about six kilometres north of Leeton.

“Work includes reshaping the curve at the intersection of Saunderson Road and Irrigation Way, improving drainage and extending the bus stop pull-off lane to improve visibility and road safety,” the spokesperson said.

Work is scheduled to start on Monday 2 May and is expected to be completed by the end of June, weather permitting.

Work will be carried out during the week between 7am and 5pm and on the occasional Saturday between 8am and 1pm if required.

Lane closures and a reduced 40 km/h reduced speed limit will be in place to ensure the safety of workers and road users during work hours. The speed limit will revert to 80 km/h outside of work.

Property access will be maintained throughout the project under traffic control with signs and controllers in place to guide motorists.
