New 40km/h School Zone to be installed for Spring Farm Public School

11 APRIL 2016

Road users are reminded to slow down ahead of the installation of a new 40km/h school zone on Barley Road for Spring Farm Public School.

A Roads and Maritime Services spokesperson said the new speed limit aimed to ensure motorists slowed down during increased pedestrian activity in the area at school start and finish times.

“School zones are provided on roads near an active, direct access point from a school and on roads where school crossing supervisors work,” the spokesperson said.

“A new school zone will be provided on Barley Road for a length of 260 metres and on short lengths of Milman Road and Wagner Street.

“Line marking will also be upgraded to make the speed limit change clear to road users.

“Work hours will be between 6pm and 10pm on Friday 22 April, weather permitting and once installed the school zone will be enforceable.

“Consultation with Spring Farm Public School was carried out and both the school and community will continue to be kept informed.”
