New lanes open to traffic on $509 million Bringelly road upgrade at Leppington

22 MARCH 2016

The $509 million Bringelly Road upgrade is moving forward with motorists soon to benefit from new lanes to increase capacity at the Bringelly Road, Cowpasture Road and Camden Valley Way intersection at Leppington.

“The Australian and NSW governments are jointly funding the project as part of the $3.6 billion Western Sydney Infrastructure Plan to widen Bringelly Road to provide improved access to the new Leppington Railway Station, the M5 and M7 motorways and the site of the planned western Sydney airport at Badgerys Creek,” A Roads and Maritime Services spokesperson said.

“From Wednesday 23 March motorists will benefit from increased capacity and reduced congestion with traffic being moved onto new left turning lanes at the intersection of Bringelly Road, Cowpasture Road and Camden Valley Way.

“The changes mean all eastbound motorists on Bringelly Road will travel on new lanes, and road users turning left from Cowpasture Road into Camden Valley Way and those turning left from Bringelly Road into Cowpasture will enjoy new dedicated turning lanes.

“New line marking will also be installed to provide dual right turn lanes from Camden Valley Way to Cowpasture Road.

“Preparation work for the traffic switch will take place at night between 7pm and 5am from tonight to Wednesday 23 March, weather permitting.

“Work to complete the Bringelly Road upgrade continues to be carried out during standard work hours between 7am and 6pm Monday to Friday and between 8am and 1pm on Saturdays, weather permitting.

“To ensure the safety of workers, road users are advised to allow extra travel time, follow the direction of traffic controllers and keep to the reduced 40 km/h speed limits where in place.

“There will be some noise associated with this work, but every effort will be made to minimise the impact on residents.

“Bringelly Road will be widened to two lanes in each direction and three lanes between the Upper Canal and Eastwood Road, to increase road capacity and improve traffic flow for the growing western Sydney population.

“Work between Camden Valley Way at Leppington and King Street at Rossmore is expected to be completed by late 2017.”

Roads and Maritime thanks motorists for their patience while this important work is under way.
