Feedback sought on drainage improvements for Barrenjoey road
22 MARCH 2016
Community members are invited to provide feedback on a proposal to improve drainage and stabilise the embankment on the western side of Barrenjoey Road at Newport.
A Roads and Maritime Services spokesperson said the $900,000 project is being funded by the NSW Government to provide a safer road for motorists.
“The embankment near Barrenjoey Road is covered by thick vegetation which limits access to the road and drainage infrastructure.
“Roads and Maritime Services is proposing to create an access trail to the slope wall for maintenance work to be carried out on drainage infrastructure and ensure water is quickly removed from the road surface during wet weather.
“The project would include clearing some vegetation, building an access track from Wiruna Crescent to the slope wall and inspecting the drains using a camera.
‘Work would then be carried out to repair or improve the drains where appropriate before cleared areas are revegetated with local shrubs and ground-covering plants.
“The access track would be maintained to allow for future maintenance work and monitoring.”
Feedback on the project is invited by Friday 8 April to delivery partner DownerMouchel at PO Box 6465, North Ryde, NSW 2113 or enquiries_nsw@downermouchel.com.
All feedback will be considered and the community will be kept informed of the project’s progress.
