Work starts on safety screen installation for Liverpool road pedestrian bridge
21 MARCH 2016
Work to install new safety screening on the pedestrian bridge over Liverpool Road in South Strathfield will start on Sunday 10 April.
A Roads and Maritime Services spokesperson said safety screens would be installed on the popular crossing which connects Hedges Avenue and Centenary Drive.
'This essential upgrade is being funded to help reduce the risk of items falling from the bridge into moving traffic below'.
'The safety screens will take 20 night shifts to install and aim to maintain visibility for pedestrians and cyclists'.
'The work will be carried out from 9pm to 5am until Sunday 15 May, weather permitting'.
'Work is not expected to be noisy and any truck or machinery movements will be completed before 11pm'.
'Changed traffic conditions including lane closures and reduced speed limits will be in place on Liverpool Road while work is carried out on the bridge above.'
Road users should follow the direction of traffic control and allow extra travel time.
