The NSW Government is progressing plans for a future upgrade and extension of Archbold Road to provide a new connection between the Great Western Highway and Old Wallgrove Road.

“The NSW Government is committed to delivering the critical road infrastructure western Sydney needs to support new jobs and homes expected near the planned airport at Badgerys Creek and Western Sydney where around 57,000 jobs will be created by 2045,” A Roads and Maritime Services spokesperson said.

“Archbold Road is an important part of the plan to improve key arterial roads, provide better road connections and unlock future employment and residential land in this major growth area in western Sydney.

“The upgrade would establish Archbold Road as the main north-south link between the Great Western Highway at Minchinbury and Old Wallgrove Road at Eastern Creek, with direct access to suburbs such as Penrith, Liverpool, Blacktown and Fairfield and improved connections and motorway access for neighbouring communities including Mount Druitt, Minchinbury and Colyton.

“Upgrades along a five kilometre section are planned to meet current and future traffic needs, reduce travel times and improve freight connections within Sydney’s motorway and wider freight network.

“The plan anticipates Archbold Road would be widened to four lanes from south of the Great Western Highway. The bridge across the M4 Motorway would also be duplicated with new east facing access ramps.

“Archbold Road would also be widened to four lanes to the recently upgraded Lenore Drive and further south to connect with Old Wallgrove Road, where the NSW Government is progressing with work to deliver a $95 million upgrade between Roberts Road and the M7 Motorway.

“New intersections providing direct access to future employment areas, bus lanes and new shared paths would deliver significant benefits for commuters and local businesses alike and make western Sydney an even better place to do business.
“Planning for Archbold Road is progressing well, with the display of the Review of Environmental Factors scheduled for later this year.”
