Work will start on Sunday 13 March to improve safety at the intersection of Botany and Beaconsfield streets in Beaconsfield.

A Roads and Maritime Services spokesperson said the project is being funded by the NSW Government to improve safety for pedestrians and will include installing new traffic lights.

“The traffic lights are required to provide a safe crossing for pedestrians at the intersection, which is in the heart of the local shopping strip,” the spokesperson said.

“A 20 metre No Stopping zone will be installed to ensure road users have visibility of the new intersection and pedestrians waiting to cross.

“The bus stop will be relocated 10 metres south and vegetation will be trimmed where required to improve drivers’ line of sight.

“Work will be carried out from Sunday 13 March to Sunday 8 May from 7am to 6pm on weekdays and from 7am to 1pm on Saturdays, weather permitting.

“Night work will also be required from 8pm to 5am with every effort made to ensure noisier work is completed before 11pm each evening.

“Changed traffic conditions will be in place including some temporary lane closures and reduced speed limits for the safety of workers and motorists.

“Road users should follow the direction of traffic control and all traffic signs.”
