Have a say on $2.5 million maintenance project for Undercliffe Bridge
4 MARCH 2016
The community is invited to have a say on proposed night work to complete a $2.5 million maintenance project for Undercliffe Bridge on Illawarra Road.
A Roads and Maritime Services spokesperson said the NSW Government is funding the essential project to remove and replace the bridge joints to ensure the structure remains strong and continues to serve the community well.
“Undercliffe Bridge above the Cooks River is one of more than 5000 bridges which Roads and Maritime Services is responsible for maintaining.
“Removing and replacing the bridge joints will ensure the structure remains strong and can cater for current and future traffic volumes.
“Community members are invited to provide feedback on the planned work schedule with the first option being to complete the work on 18 evenings across four weeks.
“The second option is to carry out work up to two nights per week for 24 shifts across four months.
“Work hours for both options would be from 8pm to 5am excluding Fridays and Saturdays with noisier work completed before 11pm.
“This work complements maintenance carried out last year to repaint the steel elements of the bridge and remove asbestos.”
Feedback can be sent by Wednesday 16 March to project delivery partner Ventia Boral Amey Joint Venture, Communications and Stakeholder Engagement, PO Box 838, Rockdale NSW 2155 or emailed to nswenquiries@vbajv.com.au.
