Community members are invited to provide feedback on a proposal to improve safety along the pedestrian bridge above Liverpool Road at South Strathfield.

A Roads and Maritime Services spokesperson said safety screens would be installed on the popular crossing which connects Hedges Avenue and Centenary Drive.

“Pedestrian and road safety is a key priority for the NSW Government,” the spokesperson said.

“This essential upgrade is being funded to help reduce the risk of items being dropped or thrown from the bridge into traffic below.

“The safety screens would maintain visibility for pedestrians and cyclists and take about 20 night shifts to install, weather permitting.

“Community members are asked to provide feedback on whether it is preferred to have the work carried out during five weeks for up to five nights per week or during 14 weeks with work scheduled for up to two nights per week.

“Work would not be very loud and would require mostly hand tools, as well as some truck and machinery movements.”
