Roads and Maritime Services today announced investigation work will start Wednesday 17 February for a proposal to install a Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) camera at the intersection of Roper Road and Carlisle Avenue to help improve travel times for motorists.

“The work is being conducted as part of the NSW Government’s $246 million Pinch Point Program, which aims to reduce traffic delays, manage congestion and improve travel times on Sydney’s major roads, particularly during the weekday peak,” a Roads and Maritime spokesperson said.

“CCTV cameras provide valuable real time information on road and traffic conditions to motorists, and can help improve traffic flow by providing real time advice to traffic controllers at the Transport Management Centre.

“The investigation work will include will include scanning, trenching and potholing to locate underground utilities and provide information on ground conditions.”

Work will be completed in two shifts from 8am to 5pm between Wednesday 17 February and Friday 26 February, excluding weekends, weather permitting.

Roads and Maritime will make every effort to minimise the impact on local residents.

Changed traffic conditions including lane closures will be in place for the safety of workers and motorists.

Motorists should plan ahead, allow extra time for their journeys and follow the direction of traffic control and signs.
