Have a say on clearways between Parramatta and North Strathfield
2 FEBRUARY 2016
Roads and Maritime Services invites the community to have a say on a proposal to install new clearways and lengthen the operating hours of clearways already in place on the Great Western Highway, Church Street and Parramatta Road.
A Roads and Maritime spokesperson said the NSW Government allocated funding as part of the Sydney Clearways Strategy aimed at improving traffic flow on Sydney’s key roads.
“Installing and extending clearways during peak hours on weekdays and weekends can significantly reduce congestion in traffic hotspots by allowing motorists to use all traffic lanes,” the spokesperson said.
“The community is invited to have a say on the proposal to extend the operating hours of clearways on Church Street between Parkes Street, Parramatta and Woodville Road, Granville and on Parramatta Road from Woodville Road, Granville to the M4 Motorway at North Strathfield.
“The proposal also includes installing new clearways on the Great Western Highway between Pitt Street and Parkes Street at Parramatta.
“The existing clearways on Church Street and Parramatta Road operate between 6am to 10am and 3pm to 7pm on weekdays with No Parking or No Stopping restrictions in place for most of the length.”
The Roads and Maritime spokesperson said the proposed clearway hours would operate from 6am to 7pm on weekdays and from 8am to 8pm on the weekend.
“No Stopping restrictions would also be installed to operate at all other times along the entire route,” the spokesperson said.
“This proposal builds on the recently installed clearways on Parramatta Road from North Strathfield to Ashfield.”
Roads and Maritime invites the community to speak to members of the project team at a community information session on Wednesday 10 February between 6pm and 8pm in the Ironbark Meeting Room in Strathfield Library at 65–67 Rochester Street, Homebush or on Thursday 11 February between 6pm and 8pm in the Granville Library Meeting Room at 8 Carlton Avenue, Granville.
The community is also invited to provide feedback on the proposal by emailing clearways@rms.nsw.gov.au, calling 1300 706 332 during business hours or by writing to Clearways, Roads and Maritime Services, PO Box 973, Parramatta NSW 2124 before Thursday 18 February.
