Work will start this week to inform potential future improvement projects on the intersection of Cumberland Highway and Cabramatta Road in Cabramatta.

“The work was part of the NSW Government’s $246 million Pinch Point program, which targets peak hour traffic hot spots on major Sydney roads,” a Roads and Maritime Services spokesperson said.

“Roads and Maritime Services will carry out investigative work on the Cumberland Highway from south of Links Avenue to Cabramatta West Public School and Cabramatta Road between Bowden Street and west of Bauer Road.

“Work involves excavating small sections of the road, surveying and detection of underground utilities to help inform planning for future improvements to this section of the Cumberland Highway.

“Work will be carried out in 10 weekday shifts and eight night shifts between Monday 18 January and Friday 11 March, weather permitting.”

Work will be carried out from 10am to 3pm and between 9.30pm and 5am, with noisier work to be completed before 11pm to minimise the impact on residents and motorists.

The work may require reduced speed limits and motorists should plan ahead, allow extra travel time and follow the direction of traffic controllers, reduced speed limits and all signs.
