23 October 2020
Transport for NSW has awarded Daracon the contract to upgrade the Memorial Avenue at Kellyville, with work scheduled to start later this year.Minister for Transport and Roads Andrew Constance said the upgrade will improve traffic flow, ease congestion and reduce travel times during peak hours.
“Upgrading Memorial Avenue will meet the future transport needs of Sydney’s north west and will help reduce congestion for more than 30,000 drivers who use the road every day,” Mr Constance said.
“This is great news for the local community and shows the NSW Government is getting on with the job of delivery its infrastructure agenda.”
Member for Baulkham Hills David Elliott said Daracon will upgrade the existing 2.2 kilometre road to a four-lane divided road, with shared pedestrian and cyclist paths to be built on both sides.
“The upgrade includes the addition of dedicated left and right turn lanes at the Windsor Road and Memorial Avenue intersection, and bus users will also benefit from the installation of bus priority traffic lights and bus bays,” Mr Elliott said.
“I will continue to work with the local council and state government to ensure the Baulkham Hills electorate receives much needed infrastructure funding, so the area can grow in a sustainable way for future generations."
Transport for NSW will engage with the community later this year about a proposed construction schedule before start of work.
