The community will be invited to have its say on the proposed upgrade of the Sydney Harbour Bridge southern cycleway and northern cycle ramp to improve access for more than a thousand cyclists who cross the bridge daily.

Minister for Roads, Maritime and Freight Melinda Pavey said the review of environmental factors for the southern cycleway and the options report for the northern cycle ramp will both be on display in November, giving the community a chance to provide feedback on the proposed upgrades for cyclists.

“The Sydney Harbour Bridge is an international icon and appreciated by millions of people each year. It is also a vital commuter link for Sydneysiders including cyclists enjoying the view of the harbour or commuting to and from work,” Mrs Pavey said.

The NSW Government is progressing plans to upgrade both the northern and southern ends of the cycleway and want the community to have a say about these essential projects.

A new cycleway will adjoin the southern end of the existing Sydney Harbour Bridge Cycleway to create a dedicated connection to the cyclist network on Kent Street.

By building the new southern cycleway, the need for cyclists to share public roads and footpaths between the bridge and Kent Street will be alleviated.

The community will be encouraged to provide feedback on the southern cycleway and northern cycle ramp that will make it easier for cyclists to access the Sydney Harbour Bridge cycleway.

Feedback on the review of environmental factors and the options report will be invited in November and will be considered when finalising the proposals.
