The upgrade of Camden Valley Way has opened to traffic a year ahead of schedule and $28 million under budget – bringing faster travel times and less congestion to motorists in Sydney’s growing south west.

NSW Premier Mike Baird, Minister for Roads Duncan Gay and Member for Camden Chris Patterson today officially opened the final 3.2 kilometre stage of the project between Bringelly Road and Ingleburn Road.

“When we commit to building vital infrastructure we deliver – I’m delighted that in 2015 we have opened the South West Rail Link and now Camden Valley Way ahead of schedule for residents in south western Sydney,” Mr Baird said.

"Camden Valley Way is one of Sydney’s key arterial roads – our fast-tracked upgrade will cut travel times as well as support new housing and jobs.”

Mr Gay said residents would now benefit from more than 10 kilometres of new four lane divided road between Oran Park Drive at Harrington Park and Bringelly Road at Leppington.

“With the capacity to increase to six lanes in the future, this road corridor upgrade provides an important link to the Hume Motorway, M7 and M5 interchanges,” Mr Gay said.

“What’s more, it’s been delivered $28 million under budget, reducing the final cost to $252 million, and opened 12 months ahead of schedule.”

Mr Patterson said the project highlighted the NSW Government’s commitment to improve road access for a future major employment hub that will benefit large communities living in Western Sydney.

“In a win for local businesses, more than $70 million worth of contracts were awarded to around 120 Western Sydney suppliers and contractors over the three stages of this project,” Mr Patterson said.
