Safety improvements ahead for Dorrigo Mountain
13 May 2021
Motorists travelling on Waterfall Way will soon benefit from $1.3 million worth of safety work at Dorrigo Mountain.Member for Oxley Melinda
Pavey said the work beginning on May 31 will improve slope stability and bolster the retaining wall just west of Sherrard Falls.
“We saw how vulnerable Waterfall Way is to landslips during the severe weather event in March, which shows just how important this kind of pre-emptive stabilisation work is in ensuring that the road remains open during these downpours,” Ms Pavey said.
“While we work on restoring those damaged areas, we’re not standing still on our planned safety works for Waterfall Way.
“This is one of a series of projects being delivered by the NSW Government to improve safety and reliability on this vital transport and freight link, and will support about five jobs while providing work for three suppliers and contractors.”
The four-month project follows the completion of similar safety improvements on Waterfall Way east of Dorrigo and near Maynards Plains Road, benefiting 1000 motorists who use this section of the road each day.
Traffic will be reduced to one lane, alternating flow, with traffic control and a reduced speed limit of 30 km/h for the safety of workers and road users.
Motorists are advised to drive to the conditions and to follow the directions of signs and traffic control.
