Garfield Road West planning is under way
3 August 2020
Members of the community are encouraged to have their say on the preferred route for Garfield Road West, which will provide motorists in the growing north-west area of Sydney a safe and efficient route.
A Transport for NSW spokesperson said the upgrade to Garfield Road West is part of planning work for roads in the North West Priority Growth Area.
“The preferred option identified for Garfield Road West will provide a wider, safer and more efficient link between Richmond and Denmark roads to support the growing community,” the spokesperson said.
“It involves upgrading the road from one lane each way, to two lanes each way, with the ability to upgrade to three lanes each way in the future.
“The preferred route will also include pedestrian and cycle paths to link communities and provide greater safety for current and future residents.”
The Department of Planning Industry and Environment’ Special Infrastructure Contributions program has contributed $5.7 million in funding towards the project for the planning and design of the project.
An additional $3 million funding has recently been provided to investigate options to ease traffic congestion through the Riverstone Town Centre, and the community will be consulted during the planning phase.
Members of the community and interested parties are encouraged to have their say on the preferred route for Garfield Road West by Friday 28 August.
Community members and stakeholders are also invited to join a Facebook online session on the NSW Roads Facebook page on Tuesday, 11 August from 4-5pm.
Transport for NSW will continue to work closely with the community on this important road upgrade.
