the intersection of Taren Point Road, The Boulevarde and Captain Cook Drive now open to

Member for Miranda Eleni Petinos said the project will help improve traffic flow for around
70,000 vehicles that travel through the intersection every day.

"The intersection is a major local traffic hub in Caringbah, especially during peak periods,
with motorists heading towards Miranda, Gymea, Kirrawee, Sutherland and beyond," Ms
Petinos said.

"The upgrade included widening Taren Point Road southbound to provide a second right
turn lane into The Boulevarde, allowing more vehicles to pass through the intersection each
time the traffic lights turn green."

Member for Cronulla Mark Speakman said the project will also improve safety and access
for pedestrians.

"More than 1,600 students attend Endeavour Sports and Caringbah High Schools, which
means a high volume of pedestrian movements during the morning and afternoon drop-off
and pick-up times," Mr Speakman said.

"New pedestrian crossing lights are being installed and new lines marked to make it safer
and easier for the community to cross the road, and these should be complete by the end of

"The safety of students and the school community continues to be our number one priority
while work is carried out."

Transport for NSW has completed work to install new concrete barriers and erosion controls,
as well as relocating underground utilities.

The local community is thanked for their patience while work is carried out.
