Public passenger vehicle statistics
Public vehicles are defined as any vehicle that carries passengers for hire or reward, and includes buses, taxis, hire cars and tourist vehicles.
This section provides statistics related to public passenger vehicles, including:
- Taxi plates and point to point drivers
- Driver Authorities - number issued and average processing time
- Taxi licence transfers and average prices - historical information
From 1 November 2017, the Point to Point Transport Act 2016 and Point to Point Transport Regulation 2017 provided a new regulatory framework for passenger services undertaken in any vehicle with 12 seats or less (including the driver). These include taxis, private hire vehicles (including ride sharing) and some buses.
